SECTION 02 · WHY US

Four differentiators

01

E61 service depth across the LA prosumer scene

Rocket, Profitec, ECM, and most prosumer Italian/German machines share the E61 group head. We have done enough E61 service to know the failure modes, the gasket variants, and the dispersion-screen patterns by hand.

02

Pre-2024 legacy parts

The 2026 Rocket refresh updated most of the catalog. Pre-refresh Cinquantotto, Giotto Type V, Mozzafiato Type V are still in service across LA homes. We stock common parts for both generations.

03

On-site for prosumer machines

Most prosumer service in the US is mail-in (Whole Latte Love, Chris’ Coffee, Seattle Coffee Gear). For LA home users who do not want to ship a 50-lb machine across the country, we are the on-site option.

04

Honest about HX vs. dual boiler

The Appartamento TCA at $2,250 with its 4-preset temperature control solves most of the historical HX consistency arguments. For most home users serving 2-6 milk drinks per day, the TCA is the right buy. R58 Tune makes sense if you entertain regularly or pull a lot of back-to-back milk drinks.

Rocket Espresso machines are hand-built in Milan and they show it — Italian craft, commercial-grade rotary pumps on the dual-boiler line, heated E61 group heads. The 2026 refresh updated the entire catalog: Giotto and Mozzafiato are now FAST (12-minute heat-up), the R58 became the R58 Tune with programmable pre-infusion, and the Appartamento standard line is being phased out in favor of the Appartamento TCA with 4-preset temperature control.

SECTION 03 · MODELS WE SERVICE

Rocket Espresso line-up

M-01

Appartamento TCA (current Appartamento)

Heat-exchanger E61, redesigned brew group, four temperature presets (0.9-1.2 bar) that solve the classic HX consistency drift. 1.8L copper boiler, 2.5L tank. The Appartamento going forward.

Pre-refresh generation still widely installed. We carry common parts: gaskets, dispersion screens, solenoids, rotary pump rebuild kits.

SECTION 04 · COMMON PROBLEMS

What goes wrong on a Rocket Espresso

  • P-01

E61 group head gasket / dispersion screen

Standard E61 wear pattern — industry-standard gasket sizing, 18-24 month replacement under typical home use. Dispersion screen needs cleaning quarterly. We do these on PM visits if asked; most owners do them themselves.

    $95-$160
  • P-02

HX thermosiphon flow restriction (Appartamento, Giotto, Mozzafiato)

Same root cause as Kees van der Westen Mirage — mineral buildup in the thermosiphon loop changes brew-temperature profile. Annual descale prevents; restoration is a 90-minute clean-out. Hard-water LA (Long Beach, Santa Monica) cuts intervals.

    $220-$340
  • P-03

Rotary pump pressure drop (R58, R Nine One, Bicocca)

Rotary pumps on dual-boiler models are commercial-grade and last 8-12 years under home use. When pressure drops, the cause is usually the bypass valve or pump head wear, not full pump failure. Bench rebuild restores; pump replacement is rare.

    $280-$480
  • P-04

Vibratory pump failure (Appartamento, Epica, lower-tier)

ULKA vibratory pumps on HX models last 5-7 years under home use. Replacement is straightforward, $180 part plus 30 minutes. Stocked on the truck.

    $240-$340
  • P-05

PID sensor / controller drift (R58, R58 Tune, Bicocca)

PID temperature probes age and respond slower at 5-7 years. Symptom is widening boiler temperature swings. Cheap part, transformative consistency improvement; replace preventively.

    $220-$340
  • P-06

    Steam boiler heating element failure

Element failures are rare on Rocket dual-boiler models (8-12 year typical life with annual descaling). When they happen, replacement is a 90-minute job; element runs $180-$280.

    $320-$520
SECTION 04 · SERVICE TYPES

From emergency calls
to PM contracts.

S-01

Emergency Espresso Machine Repair

When your espresso machine goes down during morning rush, every hour of downtime is direct lost revenue. We dispatch same-day across LA, Orange County, Inland Empire, San Diego, and Ventura for commercial accounts — one phone call, one technician, one bill. The diagnostic visit credits toward the repair when work proceeds the same day.

S-02

Preventive Maintenance Contracts

A PM contract converts unpredictable repair costs into a predictable annual line item. Quarterly visits cover descaling, group-seal inspection, sprayhead cleaning, milk-system deep clean, software firmware checks, refrigerant-system inspection on hospitality equipment (EPA Section 608 Universal certified), and operator-side training refreshers. Twelve years of PM-contract work across SoCal hospitality, restaurant, and corporate accounts. We standardize the schedule across your fleet — one vendor, one parts inventory, one billing cycle.

S-03

Espresso Machine & Coffee Brewer Repair

We repair commercial espresso machines, coffee brewers, and prosumer machines across 28 brands. Twelve-plus years working on every brand in our catalog. Diagnostic-first pricing means we tell you what is wrong and what it costs before any parts are ordered or work begins. The diagnostic charge ($145) credits toward the repair when work proceeds.

S-04

Espresso Machine Installation

New machine installations require plumbing, electrical, drain routing, water-filter setup, and on-site commissioning. We do all of it. Most LA cafe installs complete in a single 4-8 hour visit if the cabinet, electrical panel, and water supply are ready. We coordinate with general contractors when build-out is in progress.

S-05

Water Filtration for Espresso

Water quality is the single biggest variable affecting espresso machine service life and cup quality — more than machine brand, more than barista skill, more than bean choice. We consult, install, and service water filtration to the Specialty Coffee Association brewing standard across SoCal.

S-06

Used Espresso Machine Refurbishment

A 6-year-old commercial espresso machine on the used market is often a better buy than a new mid-tier machine — if it has been maintained and the price reflects its actual condition. We do refurbishment and resale prep for sellers, buy-side inspection for purchasers, and full restoration for heritage machines. The diagnostic-first workflow protects buyers and sellers equally.

SECTION 07 · FAQ

Frequently asked.

Q-01 How much does Rocket service cost?
Single-issue visits run $135-$520 including labor. E61 gasket service is $95-$160. Thermosiphon descale is $220-$340. Diagnostic visit alone is $145 and credits toward the repair.
Q-02 Are you Rocket authorized?
We are an independent service provider. Rocket’s warranty work in the US runs through their authorized retailers (Whole Latte Love, Chris’ Coffee, Cliff & Pebble, Seattle Coffee Gear) — mostly mail-in service. We are the on-site SoCal alternative for non-warranty work.
Q-03 Should I buy the Appartamento TCA or the R58 Tune?
Honest answer: TCA for most home users. The 4-preset temperature control plus 2026 build refinements solve the historical HX drift problem. R58 Tune makes sense if you regularly pull 4+ consecutive milk drinks (entertaining, larger household) or if you want programmable pre-infusion. The $1,000+ premium for R58 Tune is real.
Q-04 Will my pre-2024 Rocket still get parts?
Yes. Rocket maintains parts pipeline for prior generations through their authorized retailers. We carry common spare parts (gaskets, dispersion screens, solenoids, vibratory pump rebuild kits) on the truck to reduce dispatch wait.
Q-05 How long do Rocket machines last?
Rocket machines well-maintained run 15-20 years in home use. We have customers on machines from the early 2010s still pulling daily. Annual descaling, fresh gaskets every 18-24 months, and disciplined daily back-flush are the maintenance the hardware actually needs.
Q-06 Do you service the R Nine One?
Yes. The R Nine One is the lever-paddle pressure-profiling flagship — less common than the R58 in LA but we have done the service. Pressure-profiling work on the R Nine One is genuinely interesting; the lever mechanism has its own wear pattern that we know.
SECTION 08 · CASE STUDY · HONEST OPINION
Recent job

Recent job: 8-year-old Giotto Type V at a Silver Lake home, owner reported brew-temperature drift across the day plus a slow leak from the group head. Diagnosed thermosiphon mineral buildup (skipped two annual descales) plus a flattened group seal at end of normal service interval. Cleaned the thermosiphon loop, descaled the boiler, replaced the group seal and dispersion screen. Total: 2.5 hours, $295 parts and labor. The Giotto was pulling shots within factory spec the same afternoon; expect another 7-10 years of service.

Honest opinion

If you are buying a used Rocket on Craigslist or eBay, the seller’s descaling history matters more than any other variable. We have seen 12-year-old Giottos that pull better than 4-year-old ones because the older one had annual descaling religiously and the younger one had hard tap water and zero filter. Ask for the descaling records before you buy.
