Astra Mega I, Mega II, Mega II Compact, Mega III and Gourmet machines, serviced on site in Orange County, Long Beach and Ventura. Parts ship from inside the US.

Preventive-maintenance contracts run $400–$2,800 per machine per year on a quarterly cycle, 15–25% off from 3 machines; 12-month term, 30-day cancellation.
No — a traditional machine has nothing to dial into. Diagnosis happens at the machine: pump and group pressure, boiler temperature, and the electrical checks that tell a failed element from a failed board.
From inside the United States. Astra sells replacement parts direct and Parts Town carries the line, so nothing waits on an import. We order against the part number in Astra’s manual, and the ETA is written into the estimate.
No. We are an independent repair service and not an Astra warranty station. Astra’s warranty is one year on labor and two years on parts from installation, so a machine inside that window should go to Astra first. Outside it, we service the machine on site and order parts from Astra or a US parts house.
The operation manual lists the yearly parts by number. We quote from that list, so the estimate names the part and you can check it against the book.
Astra plumbs with brass flare fittings and a quarter-inch flare inlet. A leak at a fitting is re-made with hardware any US supplier stocks. It is not a reason to scrap the machine.
Every Astra model exists in a 220 V and a 110 V version with different elements and valve coils. The rating plate is photographed on the visit, and the order follows the plate.
A 7-litre boiler feeding two groups and two steam wands has limits. If the complaint is slow recovery during a rush and nothing is broken, we say so and leave the parts in the catalogue.
Astra is the odd one out on a bar full of Italian machines: an American commercial espresso machine, built with flare fittings and US-standard hardware. The company was based in Canoga Park when it was sold in 2019, and the machines are now built in Spokane, Washington. That history matters for service. Parts are ordered from the manufacturer or from a US parts house against the number in Astra’s own manual, and nothing waits on a shipment from Europe.
Two groups in 19.25 inches of counter. One 7-litre copper boiler, rotary-vane pump. The M2C-014 is 220 V and 2,700 W; the M2C-014-1 is the 110 V, 2,000 W version on a 20 A circuit. The semi-automatic twins are the M2CS-019 and M2CS-019-1.
The full-width two-group. 12.5-litre boiler, 4,500 W, 220 V on a 30 A circuit. Nearly twice the boiler of the Compact, which is the whole difference on a busy bar.
One group on the same 7-litre boiler as the Compact. 220 V or 110 V. The semi-automatic versions are the M1S-016 and M1S-016-1.
Three groups, 17-litre boiler, 5,500 W, 220 V. The semi-automatic M3S-018 is 5,700 W.
One group, 4.2-litre boiler, automatic or semi-automatic. The GAP-022-1 and GSP-023-1 are the tank-fed 110 V versions for a counter with no water line.
Bean-to-cup machines on a 4.2-litre boiler. Astra’s manual calls the SM-111 and SM-222 the Super Mega I and II. Piston O-rings and burrs are on the yearly list.
Astra’s manual puts all three on a yearly replacement: gasket A10040, shower screen A10060 and the small infusion orifice A10020 with its mesh filter. A gasket and screen swap is about 40 minutes for two groups. The orifice is the one people skip, and a half-blocked one shows up as one group running slower than the other.
The group valve (A10110 or A10111, by voltage) is also a yearly part in the manual. Scale holds it open and the group keeps dripping after the shot stops. Read the voltage off the rating plate before ordering: the 110 V and 220 V coils are not interchangeable.
Astra gives a field test for the A10170. Let the boiler fall to 12–13 PSI: if the amber heating light is not on by then, the pressure-stat is done. Normal boiler pressure is 15–17 PSI. A scorched terminal on the pressure-stat means the connection is checked too, not only the part.
Two separate kits: the steam valve kit A10440 and the wand pivot rebuild kit A10469. A wand that drips with the knob closed needs the valve. One that weeps where it swivels needs the pivot. Order the one the leak points at.
The inlet electrovalve (A10360 or A10361) and the level probe A10230 work as a pair. A scaled probe reads empty and floods the boiler; a stuck valve does the same from the other end. Supply pressure belongs in the check as well: Astra specifies 30–50 psi at a quarter-inch flare inlet.
The Mega machines run a rotary-vane Procon pump, part A10390. Brew pressure should sit near 135 PSI. A pump that cannot reach it, or screams when it starts, has usually been run against a starved supply line or a blocked filter.
This is the one-group figure. A Mega II or a Mega III is priced by its group count, and you see that number first.

Astra units mostly live on cafe bars and hospitality counters, so the dispatch pattern follows the commercial corridors: Astra repair in Orange County, Astra repair in Long Beach and Astra repair in Ventura County. Same technician, same rates everywhere on the grid — 25 cities across six counties, same-day when the schedule allows.
A typical call on a Mega II Compact: a diner reports that the left group keeps dripping after the shot and the drip tray fills during service. The visit starts with the rating plate, then the group. A group electrovalve held open by scale is the usual cause, and the gasket and shower screen are overdue on the same group. Valve, gasket and screen are replaced in one visit of about 90 minutes. The water filter is checked before leaving, because the scale that held this valve open is working on the other one.
The Mega II Compact gets specified because it fits, and it does fit: two groups in 19.25 inches. It is the wrong machine for a line out the door. Seven litres of boiler shared between two groups and two steam wands will not recover like the 12.5 litres in the full-width Mega II. If the counter can take the wider machine, take the wider machine. If it cannot, run the Compact for what it is and do not pay anyone to "fix" its recovery time.
Usually yes, if the fix costs under half a replacement and the machine has years left. The arithmetic we run by machine class, and when to buy new instead.
Six to eight years for an entry machine, twenty-plus for a prosumer one. The build, the water it drank and whether anyone serviced it set the number.
