SECTION 02 · WHY US

Four differentiators

01

ECM-Profitec parts overlap

ECM and Profitec share key components (rotary pumps, PID controllers, common solenoids). We stock overlap parts on the truck — most ECM service calls close in one visit even when specific ECM-branded parts wait for dispatch.

02

Synchronika depth

Synchronika is the most-installed ECM in LA. We have rebuilt enough of them that the rotary-pump-and-PID service paradigm is documented and routine.

03

Pre-2020 legacy support

Casa V, Botticelli, and older Mechanika machines from 2015-2019 are still in LA homes. We carry the common legacy parts.

04

Honest about ECM vs. Profitec

Same shared-ownership group, same German build philosophy. Synchronika and Pro 700 are mechanically near-identical. Differences are cosmetic and brand identity — ECM’s exposed-stainless aesthetic vs Profitec’s clean-panel approach. Pick by what you want to look at every morning.

ECM (Espresso Coffee Machines) is the German prosumer brand that pairs with Profitec under shared ownership. The Synchronika dual-boiler is the cross-shop with Profitec Pro 700 and Rocket R58. ECM’s design language is more polished and visible than Profitec — stainless steel finishes, exposed boiler insulation panels, premium switches and gauges.

Pre-2020 ECM (older Mechanika, Casa V, Botticelli)

Legacy generation. Casa V and Botticelli still in service in older LA homes. We carry common parts.

SECTION 04 · COMMON PROBLEMS

What goes wrong on a ECM

  • P-01

    E61 group head service

Same E61 service across all ECM and Profitec models — industry-standard gaskets and dispersion screens. 18-24 month interval typical.

    $95-$160
  • P-02

    PID controller drift

Synchronika and Classika PID sensors age at 5-7 years. Standard sensor replacement; transformative for shot consistency.

    $220-$340
  • P-03

Rotary pump service (Synchronika rotary, Puristika)

Same rotary pump platform as Profitec Pro 700. 8-12 year service life under home use; bypass valve and pump head are the wear items, not the pump itself. Bench rebuild restores pressure.

    $280-$480
  • P-04

Vibratory pump replacement (Mechanika, Classika, base Synchronika)

ULKA vibratory pump 5-7 year home-use service life. Stocked replacement, 30-45 minute job.

    $220-$320
  • P-05

    Boiler element failure

ECM elements run 10-12 years with disciplined descaling. Hard-water LA installs without descaling reduce service life by 30-40%.

    $320-$520
  • P-06

Stainless panel oxidation (cosmetic, not structural)

ECM’s exposed stainless panels can develop minor oxidation in coastal LA neighborhoods (Santa Monica, Venice, Long Beach). Cosmetic only — polishes out. Worth knowing for resale.

    $95-$160 (cosmetic restoration)
SECTION 04 · SERVICE TYPES

From emergency calls
to PM contracts.

S-01

Emergency Espresso Machine Repair

When your espresso machine goes down during morning rush, every hour of downtime is direct lost revenue. We dispatch same-day across LA, Orange County, Inland Empire, San Diego, and Ventura for commercial accounts — one phone call, one technician, one bill. The diagnostic visit credits toward the repair when work proceeds the same day.

S-02

Preventive Maintenance Contracts

A PM contract converts unpredictable repair costs into a predictable annual line item. Quarterly visits cover descaling, group-seal inspection, sprayhead cleaning, milk-system deep clean, software firmware checks, refrigerant-system inspection on hospitality equipment (EPA Section 608 Universal certified), and operator-side training refreshers. Twelve years of PM-contract work across SoCal hospitality, restaurant, and corporate accounts. We standardize the schedule across your fleet — one vendor, one parts inventory, one billing cycle.

S-03

Espresso Machine & Coffee Brewer Repair

We repair commercial espresso machines, coffee brewers, and prosumer machines across 28 brands. Twelve-plus years working on every brand in our catalog. Diagnostic-first pricing means we tell you what is wrong and what it costs before any parts are ordered or work begins. The diagnostic charge ($145) credits toward the repair when work proceeds.

S-04

Espresso Machine Installation

New machine installations require plumbing, electrical, drain routing, water-filter setup, and on-site commissioning. We do all of it. Most LA cafe installs complete in a single 4-8 hour visit if the cabinet, electrical panel, and water supply are ready. We coordinate with general contractors when build-out is in progress.

S-05

Water Filtration for Espresso

Water quality is the single biggest variable affecting espresso machine service life and cup quality — more than machine brand, more than barista skill, more than bean choice. We consult, install, and service water filtration to the Specialty Coffee Association brewing standard across SoCal.

S-06

Used Espresso Machine Refurbishment

A 6-year-old commercial espresso machine on the used market is often a better buy than a new mid-tier machine — if it has been maintained and the price reflects its actual condition. We do refurbishment and resale prep for sellers, buy-side inspection for purchasers, and full restoration for heritage machines. The diagnostic-first workflow protects buyers and sellers equally.

SECTION 07 · FAQ

Frequently asked.

Q-01 How much does ECM service cost?
Single-issue visits run $135-$520 including labor. E61 service is $95-$160. PID sensor work is $220-$340. Diagnostic visit alone is $145.
Q-02 Are you ECM authorized?
We are an independent service provider. ECM warranty work in the US runs through authorized retailers (mostly mail-in). We are the on-site SoCal alternative for non-warranty service.
Q-03 Synchronika or Profitec Pro 700?
Mechanically near-identical — same parent ownership, same German build philosophy, same rotary-pump and PID architecture. Pick by which aesthetic you prefer to live with daily. Synchronika has more visible stainless and exposed components; Pro 700 has a cleaner panel design. Both are 15-20 year machines.
Q-04 My Mechanika V Slim brew temperature drifts during the day. Why?
On HX machines, this is usually thermosiphon mineral buildup — same root cause as Rocket Giotto and Kees Mirage. Annual descaling prevents; restoration is a 90-minute clean-out plus new group seal. Hard-water LA cuts the interval to 12 months instead of 18-24.
Q-05 How long do ECM machines last?
15-20 years with disciplined home maintenance. We have customers on Mechanika machines from the early 2010s still pulling daily. The German build quality genuinely shows in long-term service.
Q-06 Do you service the Puristika pourover?
Yes. Puristika is plumbed-only (no water tank) and uncommon in LA homes — mostly cafes. Service is straightforward; rotary pump and dual-boiler architecture matches Synchronika.
SECTION 08 · CASE STUDY · HONEST OPINION
Recent job

Recent job: 6-year-old Synchronika at an Orange County home, owner reported low brew pressure and one minor leak from below the group head. Diagnosed rotary pump bypass valve wear (typical at this age) plus a flattened group seal. Bench-rebuilt the pump bypass, replaced the seal and dispersion screen, recalibrated to 9-bar brew pressure. Total: 2.5 hours, $340 parts and labor. The Synchronika was pulling factory-spec shots the same afternoon.

Honest opinion

ECM and Profitec under shared ownership produce mechanically near-identical machines. The visible aesthetic and brand-identity differences are real but the engineering is the same. We will tell prospective buyers this directly — pick the Synchronika or the Pro 700 by which one you want to look at every morning, not by some imagined performance advantage. Both are excellent.
