Average dispatch in LA County is under 4 business hours on weekdays; you get the arrival window on the call, before you hang up.
La San Marco La 100, La 80, La 20/20 Leva, La Leva Luxury and the older 85, serviced on site in Pasadena, Hollywood and Ventura County. Lever groups included.

Preventive-maintenance contracts run $400–$2,800 per machine per year on a quarterly cycle, 15–25% off from 3 machines; 12-month term, 30-day cancellation.
No — a traditional machine has nothing to dial into. Diagnosis happens at the machine: pump and group pressure, boiler temperature, and the electrical checks that tell a failed element from a failed board.
La San Marco parts come from the US parts houses that list the brand, and where they do not stock a part it is ordered from Europe. Either way the lead time is written into the estimate before any work starts.
No. We are an independent service, and we do not claim a relationship with the factory. La San Marco lists no US office of its own, so a warranty question goes back to the dealer who sold the machine. For a machine out of warranty we do the work on site and source the parts ourselves.
La San Marco calls working the lever without a filled, locked portafilter extremely dangerous and asks for 30 cm of clearance. We treat a lever group the same way on the bench side: cold, depressurised, spring controlled.
Some La San Marco parts are on a US shelf and some are four to six weeks away. The estimate says which, before you decide.
These machines reach the US in 110 V and 220 V versions with different elements. The rating plate is read on the visit and the order follows it.
An 85 from the 1990s is a simple machine with listed parts. We service it. What we say honestly is how long the parts take.
La San Marco has built espresso machines in Gradisca d’Isonzo since 1920, and it still builds lever machines, which most manufacturers stopped doing decades ago. The company lists no US office. Parts come from the US parts houses that carry the brand and, when they do not have one, from Europe. So two things decide a La San Marco repair before any tool comes out: whether the group is a lever, and how long the part will take.
One boiler with a heat exchanger for each group, and IGTS to set each group’s temperature independently of boiler pressure. Practical: one group, 5 litres, 2,000 W. Classic: two groups on 12 litres and 4,500 W, or three groups on 19 litres. Sprint: a compact two-group on 8 litres and 3,000 W. The La 100 Semiautomatica is the manual-dosing version.
The other electronic machines in the current range. The version is confirmed from the rating plate before a part is ordered.
A lever machine in one to four groups, on a single boiler of 5, 12, 19 or 25 litres. It takes a 54 mm portafilter, so a 58 mm basket from another machine will not fit.
Two or three lever groups. Built with a single boiler of 12 or 19 litres, or as a multi-boiler with 5 litres for each group and a 6-litre boiler beside them.
One to four groups on 5, 12, 19 or 24 litres. Out of the current range and still on bars. Gas heating was an option on the two-, three- and four-group machines.
The 105 Multiboiler ACT has a 0.4-litre boiler on each group and a steam boiler of 10 litres on two groups or 12 on three. The 105 Touch and 105 Electronic are single-boiler machines on 12 or 19 litres.
The piston gasket in the lever group, a 50 × 31 × 10 mm seal. Replacing it means opening a group with a loaded spring in it. The machine is cold and depressurised before that starts. Quoted on the visit, once the group can be seen.
La San Marco’s LEVA CLASS system brakes the lever on its way back. The check in the manual is simple: the return should take at least two seconds. Faster than that and the brake needs service. Until it is done, nobody should stand over that lever.
The group gasket, 64 × 52.5 × 5.5 mm on these machines. It is not the size most Italian machines use, so it is ordered by measurement or by part number, never by eye.
The manual points to the element and the pressure-switch wiring. A pressure switch that no longer opens leaves the element on, and the safety valve is the only thing left to stop it. Switch the machine off and call. This is not one to run until the weekend.
Water leaving by the safety valve with normal pressure on the gauge is the automatic level circuit: the probe, or the inlet valve it controls.
Scale collects in the boiler and inside the heat exchangers that feed the groups. On an old 85 the paper flange gaskets bake on, and that is what makes the descale slow.
One group is the base price. More groups raise it, and the estimate states by how much before the visit is booked.

La San Marco units mostly live on cafe bars and hospitality counters, so the dispatch pattern follows the commercial corridors: La San Marco repair in Pasadena, La San Marco repair in Hollywood and La San Marco repair in Ventura County. Same technician, same rates everywhere on the grid — 25 cities across six counties, same-day when the schedule allows.
A typical call on a two-group lever machine: a restaurant reports that one lever has gone soft and the shots from that group are thin. The machine is switched off and left to cool and depressurise before the group is touched, and most of the visit is that wait. The piston gasket is replaced, the group gasket with it, and the lever return is timed afterwards against the two-second mark. Allow two to three hours. The second group is the same age and usually gets done on the same visit.
The usual advice on a thirty-year-old lever machine is to replace it. We disagree, with one condition. An 85 has a boiler, a spring and a handful of seals, and nearly all of it can be rebuilt. The condition is the wait: a part that is six weeks away is six weeks with no machine. So order the parts first and take the machine out of service second. Done in that order, rebuilding an old La San Marco is the cheaper decision.
Usually yes, if the fix costs under half a replacement and the machine has years left. The arithmetic we run by machine class, and when to buy new instead.
Six to eight years for an entry machine, twenty-plus for a prosumer one. The build, the water it drank and whether anyone serviced it set the number.
