SECTION 02 · WHY US

Four differentiators

01

Schematic-trained on every generation

MVP, MVP Hydra, S-Series, Cyncra, pre-2018 builds. Color-coded internal wires correspond to specific machine systems — we know the maps.

02

On-truck steam-valve rebuilds

Synesso designed the steam valves to rebuild without removal. We bring the kits and complete the work in 30 minutes per valve.

03

Honest about MVP vs S-Series

If your bar program uses straight 9-bar volumetric shots, we will tell you that an S200 gives you Synesso build quality at $7-10K less than an MVP and fewer parts to maintain.

04

Fast on the breaker

Tripped heat breakers are the #1 cause of Synesso "panic calls." We diagnose by phone first — if a breaker reset is the answer, you do not pay for the visit.

Synesso was founded in Seattle in 2004 by a former La Marzocco engineer. The machines are built like vault doors — stainless frames, brass and copper internals, no compromise components. We service the full current line plus the early MVPs that other shops will not touch.

SECTION 03 · MODELS WE SERVICE

Synesso line-up

M-01

MVP Hydra (2/3-group)

Current flagship. Independent pump and brew boiler per group, 4-stage pressure profiling, full M/MP/VP mode switching. The high-volume choice.

$28-42K new
M-02

MVP (2/3-group)

Same MVP technology as the Hydra but shared brew-boiler architecture. Lower price, slightly less recovery under back-to-back peak load.

$22-30K new
M-03

S-Series (S200 2-group / S300 3-group)

Low-profile auto-volumetric. Synesso build quality without the pressure-profile complexity. Excellent value when the bar program does not need MVP.

$15-22K new
M-04

Cyncra

Older platform, still in service across many LA cafes. Multi-boiler, manual paddle. We service these.

M-05

ES1

Single-group home/light-commercial. Touchscreen, manual paddle. Compact footprint for tight bars.

$10-12K new
M-06

Pre-2018 MVP / Hydra

Earlier control board generation, different wiring color codes. We carry the diagnostic schematics.

SECTION 04 · COMMON PROBLEMS

What goes wrong on a Synesso

  • P-01

    Steam wand pressure imbalance

Most common Synesso call. Either steam tip clogged with milk-protein scale, or mineral restriction in the line. Different tip styles between left and right wands also cause apparent pressure differences — always confirm tips match before chasing a fault.

    $95-$220
  • P-02

Brew boiler temp drift (single group only)

On MVP Hydra, each group has its own boiler and PID, so drift on one group is local to that group’s sensor or SSR — the others stay stable. Diagnostic isolates fast.

    $220-$420
  • P-03

    Heating element breaker tripped

On MVP, MVP Hydra, and Cyncra, a breaker under the machine cuts heat. Owners panic; resetting it fixes the call. We document the location for every customer on first visit.

    $0-$95 if reset only
  • P-04

    Volumetric flow-meter inaccuracy

Hydra uses 4-magnet flow meters — more accurate than older 2-magnet, but mineral buildup on the magnets still drifts the count. Clean the flow meter before reprogramming.

    $140-$240
  • P-05

    Steam valve rebuild

Synesso steam valves are designed to rebuild without removal — a real serviceability win. We carry the seal kits.

    $120-$185
  • P-06

    Group seal replacement

Synesso’s saturated group head holds seals well, but the EPDM still flattens after 24-36 months of heat cycles. Pressure drop during extraction is the tell.

    $135-$210
  • P-07

    Pre-2018 control board fault

Older boards use different wiring than current builds. Diagnostic time is longer but the parts are still available through Synesso direct.

    $340-$680

SECTION 04 · SERVICE TYPES

From emergency calls
to PM contracts.

COVERAGE · SYNESSO

Where we service Synesso.

Synesso units mostly live on cafe bars and hospitality counters, so the dispatch pattern follows the commercial corridors: Synesso repair in San Diego, Synesso repair in Santa Monica, Synesso repair in Inland Empire, Synesso repair in DTLA, Synesso repair in Los Angeles and Synesso repair in Orange County. Same technician, same rates everywhere on the grid — 25 cities across five counties, same-day when the schedule allows.

SECTION 07 · FAQ

Frequently asked.

Q-01 How much does a Synesso repair cost?
Single-issue visits run $135-$420 including labor. Steam-tip cleaning is $95-$160. Group seal replacement is $135-$210. Diagnostic visit alone is $145 and credits toward the repair.
Q-02 My Synesso suddenly stopped heating. What do I check first?
On MVP, MVP Hydra, and Cyncra, the heating-element breaker sits under the machine next to the red power switch. If it is pushed right, push it left and give the machine 5-10 minutes to reheat. This is the #1 cause of "panic call" stops on Synesso.
Q-03 Why does one steam wand have higher pressure than the other?
Three causes, in order of frequency. First: different steam tip styles — confirm tips match before chasing a fault. Second: tip clogged with milk-protein and mineral scale. Third: mineral buildup in the steam line or fittings feeding the valve.
Q-04 Are you Synesso authorized?
We service Synesso machines on-site across SoCal. We are not a Synesso-branded service center. We use genuine Synesso parts where the failure point demands it; for seals and gaskets we use the same Viton/EPDM grade the factory spec calls for.
Q-05 Should I buy MVP or MVP Hydra?
Hydra has independent pumps and brew-boilers per group, so peak-volume recovery is better and one group’s temp drift never affects another. MVP shares the brew boiler. If your bar runs three back-to-back triples in a peak hour, Hydra. If your peak is two doubles every five minutes, MVP is enough.
Q-06 My MVP volumetric shots are pulling short. Why?
Almost always mineral buildup on the flow-meter magnets — the meter under-counts so the machine cuts the shot early. Clean the meter, reprogram, watch a few shots. If it returns within a month, you need water filtration upgraded.
SECTION 08 · CASE STUDY · HONEST OPINION
Recent job

Recent job: 8-year-old Synesso MVP 3-group at a Silver Lake cafe, group 2 brewing cooler than groups 1 and 3 by about 3°C. Diagnosed PID temperature sensor drift on that group, plus a slightly oxidized SSR. Replaced both, recalibrated. Total: 2 hours, $385 parts and labor, all three groups back to within 0.5°C of each other.

Honest opinion

A Synesso MVP that has been on water filtration its whole life will outlive the cafe that owns it. We have serviced two 12-year-old MVPs in LA still pulling commercial volume. The honest opinion is: if you are buying used, the water history matters more than the model year. Ask for filter-change records before you wire-transfer.
